Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work in mental health services. We are looking for an empathetic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working in acute female inpatient services. This vital role involves interacting with the patients on a daily basis and helping them meet their daily needs.
A key part of the excellent care that we strive to provide for our patients is down to the role of Visible Security Administrators who provide customer service in the ward reception area and act as a professional contact to visitors to the unit. The role entails providing physical and procedural security for the ward to maintain safety for patients, staff and visitors to the ward. This job entails supporting the nursing team in managing ingress and egress onto the ward, as well as managing and monitoring restricted items.
What we are looking for:
We are therefore looking to welcome committed and hardworking Visible Security Administrators to join our new wards. The role will include a variety of security and administrative duties on our new inpatient wards including maintenance of key and safety alarm inventories, controlling all access to the unit, escorting visitors and monitoring for prohibited and restricted items entering the building. Previous experience of working with people with mental health problems within a secure environment is desirable. Our services run over 7 days a week and therefore shifts are worked across days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays., + Issuing of keys and maintenance of key inventory
+ Issuing of staff safety alarms
+ Control of all access to the unit via security station
+ To escort professional visitors, contractors and maintenance personnel to their required destination within the secure part of the unit.
+ To record all patient leave in all required logs both electronic and paper copy.
+ To monitor all patients sharps and ensure that all these items are accounted for.
+ To check ID of visitors of both professional and informal to the unit
+ Co-ordination, charging, issuing and operation of unit telecommunications - unit mobile
+ phones/ 2 way radios
+ To respond to fire, front door or staff attack alarms in accordance with unit policy
+ To complete all security checks in accordance with standard operational policy and security protocol
+ To keep the fire-board up to date with all staff and visitors within the unit
+ To aid shift co-ordinator in verifying that patient has been granted section 17 leave prior to the patient leaving the unit
+ To monitor for prohibited and restricted items entering the building through the reception area and communicating concerns to shift co-ordinator if they arise.
+ To provide customer service in reception area and act as first professional contact to visitors to the unit.
+ To set up patient profiles on the CoWin Play system and upload relevant documentation.
+ To liaise with reconnect helpdesk for all trouble shooting issues related to the system
+ To complete patient discharges on the system, Issuing of keys and maintenance of key inventory
Issuing of staff safety alarms
Control of all access to the unit via visible security office
To escort professional visitors to their required destination within the secure part of the wards.
To record all patient leave in all required logs both electronic and paper copy.
To monitor all patients restricted items and ensure that all these items are accounted for.
To check ID of visitors of both professional and informal to the wards
Escorting of contractors and maintenance personnel within the wards
Co-ordination, charging, issuing and operation of unit telecommunications - unit mobile phones/ 2 way radios (where applicable)
To respond to fire, front door and direct response staff to staff attack alarms
To complete all security checks in accordance with standard operational policy and security protocol.
To keep the fire-board up to date with all staff and visitors within the unit.
To aid shift co-ordinator in verifying that patient has been granted section 17 leave prior to the patient leaving the wards.
To monitor for prohibited and restricted items entering the building through the visible security office area and communicating concerns to shift co-ordinator if they arise.
Responsible for safe keeping patients' money (if appropriate for role) and handling of petty cash, ensuring accurate receipts are kept.
To provide customer service in reception area and act as first professional contact to visitors to the wards.
To manage patients wrist bands for entry to the ward - programming wrist bands to room allocations as required
To supply patients with appropriate swipe to vacate the ward onto PHC link corridors in order to access external site of PHC
To support admission/discharge of patients property and unit safe - maintain inventories and scheduled safe checks
To maintaining room booking diary electronically for family visitors room / professional rooms and multi-faith room.
CoWin Admin Duties
Gathering appropriate information from a variety of sources to input accurately onto a database.
Working with nursing staff to ensure that all patient profiles are set up and maintained for the use of CoWin units throughout the patients stay. Systems of use to ensure that any bed stock movement is also up to date to protect patient PID.
To support nursing staff of adapting CoWin units to comply with patients needs - removal or adding of apps applicable (e.g low stimuls apps only - sound control etc)
To undertake regular checks of the nursing I-pad for the safe undertaking of night duty checks using the CoWin app
To upload all patient relevant documentation - generic data weekly, patient menus, ward activities etc also formal data required as instructed by nursing team (care plans, patients rights, section 17 paperwork
To liaise with recorrnect for remote and technical support for the CoWin units. To report faults and issues via the network
To support nursing team as part of the discharge plan to deactivate profiles and set up default new profiles for new admissions
Communicating sensitively with anyone coming into the department maintaining strict standards of confidentiality
