Job Purpose:
Representing the company to the customer (Ford), actively pursuing new business opportunities, and ensuring that all business objectives are achieved; primarily looking at Sales, Gross Profit (%), EBITDA, and Service.
Key Result Areas:

Strategic Account Manager

  • Actively pursue new business opportunities within Ford, i.e

  • + New vehicle projects (V710 new parts, V801, Cyclone, Cargo RFQ)
    + Electrification
    + Battery Plants (Ataturk & Cologne)
    + Current parts today not supplied to our Ford plants (IMG, N/S America)
  • Quarterly travel to Ford Turkey & Spain to see buyers to discuss opportunities and resolve pricing / claim issues + build relationships.

  • Involvement in RFQ process through to sell price / margin and ensuring on time quotation.

  • Follow-up with customer for quote status / feedback.

  • Report feedback to sourcing team to help better improve procurement process.

  • Monitor new business wins, sales & margin

  • Orchestrate resolving current loss makers / high tariff parts via help from Sourcing team (Resource), Engineering (TVM), sales (Price increase).

  • Present E&O / Price increase / Energy increase claims (UK) to Ford Valencia purchasing & support Turkey where needed.

  • Support Optimas Engineering with commercial information for TVM, ensuring changes benefit Optimas.


  • NPI / Launch
  • Process commercial packs provided by sourcing/sales through to initial PO order to supplier.

  • Ensure NPI trackers are maintained correctly and shared within the team.

  • Update Ford system with promise dates to ensure transparency. (VPP & IMDS)

  • Monitor / report changes in capacity from Ford system.

  • Chase / escalate suppliers for late PPAPs & failed promises.

  • Orchestrate launch team (Eng/Sourcing/Sales/Quality/Supply Chain) for new projects to ensure 100% build support is met. Update / maintain launch tracker.

  • Work with sourcing to highlight and key savings opportunities, including piece price or tariff savings

  • Monitor resource. SREA > PPAP > Functional Build > PIPO > Complete.


  • UK Commercial
  • Monitor Ford webquote system and process new RFQs (80% carryover 20% unique prototypes or new parts)

  • Quote Ford via Webquote (their online portal)

  • Process Pos & working with commercial support to create commercial packs

  • Quarterly material price updates from Ford - To be checked in line with DSV and uploaded into Netsuite.

  • Monitor new business wins, sales & margin.

  • Monitor new POs being released in Webquote to check for any amendments including plants & price changes


  • Additional Key Duties:
  • Understanding, developing and promoting the Company's business objectives and participate with total enthusiasm and commitment to achieve and exceed them;

  • Ensuring regular business reviews are undertaken with your team and intercompany Department Heads;

  • Ensuring that you fully understand your work requirements and duties and have received the correct training;

  • International travel will be a requirement of this role, typically 4-8 business trips a year to Europe, or as needed.
