Full Job Description

We are looking for talented, professional team leader with exceptional technical and creative hands-on skills to join our team to help deliver industry leading creative event solutions for our clients.

The role of Senior Event Technical Support is to have expert knowledge & understanding of event installs and derigs along with technical knowledge of complex installations where duties include floorings, set builds, AV lighting, truss and DMX control, and graphics on to various substrates and surfaces. You will take full responsibility for execution of EPH run technical and bespoke installs and projects, ensuring we have sufficient equipment & technical expertise onsite and provide specialist advice. You will also be responsible for ensuring any jobs with technical props on hire are fully supported from pre install test build to delivery and setup where required. This role includes liaison with team members across the business from a technical perspective.

As this role will involve UK-wide travel on a frequent basis, you will be required to have a flexible schedule and will be happy to turn up at any venue at any time with a smile on your face always with and a great attitude. You will need to have both practical & people management skills as this is a very hands-on role and will require you to run company staff and onsite crew at events. Your problem-solving skills will be essential in this role as you will be required to make educated on-the-spot decisions, while your creative flair and solid eye for what looks good is a must.

Responsibilities include:

· Focusing on the fine details of an install and derig, liaising with internal & external departments to sufficiently equip the installers with both tools & knowledge.

· Cross communicating with Design, Production and Operations teams regarding technical and bespoke builds prior to despatch of products.

· Carry out any pre-event site visits required to cross check against any conflicts with props and venue, or any difficult access issues. Take measurements and undertake technical site survey in preparation for upcoming jobs.

· Attend site where required for technical props and bespoke installations, leading team members and liaise with multiple 3rd party event staff across varying positions & disciplines on-site to ensure the overall success of the project or event.

· Oversee all required scenic, prop build or dressing responsibilities required are executed to an exceptional standard on site.

· Ensure Health & Safety standards are fully adhered to on every job/project ensuring RAMS are always adhered to.

· Efficiently problem-solve any issues or last-minute changes to event install or derig plans.

· Obtaining feedback from clients throughout the install process. Communicating any issues to Event Operations Manager to continually improve services.

· When required you are to be available to lead or work as a team member onsite on any installations and derig.

· To produce any technical data sheets and specs for products or installation processes, stock product instructions or installation risk assessments.

· Provide internal and external technical prop support (level 3 & 4) in-house, onsite or on call.

· Oversee installation department kit ensuring adequate stock levels and equipment is checked and maintained regularly.

· Assess, prepare, and organise all event equipment required for upcoming jobs.

· Oversee plant equipment hire management and return.

· To ensure all equipment is kept maintained and all PAT Testing / Safety checks are regularly carried out.

· Experience of carpet, fake grass and vinyl cutting, shaping, and fitting on different substrates.

· Experience in construction of exhibition stands and outdoor displays where different sub structures and materials have been used.

· Experience and proficiency in reading technical plans and product design drawings essential, skills in producing plans & drawings using CAD drawing packages and or SketchUp an advantage.

· Prior experience installing at large scale events.

· Experience in either AV theatre style lighting, cable management, basic AV desk DMX or prior experience & certification in safe working practices & installation of truss or rigging an advantage.

· Experience in mounting and erecting graphic panels, prints and signage.

· Excellent hand and power tool operating knowledge and use.

· Experience using plant equipment i.e. cherry picker and scissors lifts onsite. IPAF 3A or 3B an advantage.

· Formal certification in conducting Health and Safety and risk assessments, or substantial prior experience in this area

· NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safety an advantage

· Must be comfortable driving 3.5T min vehicle - 7.5 ton licence an advantage

Requirements:

· Be able to travel regularly across the UK, staying overnight regularly where required.

· Have a flexible schedule and be able to work frequent evenings, nights & weekends.

· Work efficiently from plans with minimal disruption to client to achieve deadlines and can adapt to quickly changing situations.

· Must be happy and comfortable working alongside clients with a professional work attitude and strong communication skills.

· Proactive and motivated approach with aim to always do your best achieving a high-end finish given the time allowed.

· Exceptional standard for detail, care and attention with the ability to bring a creative flair and design eye to installs.

· Ability to think out of the box with strong problem-solving skills to indicate solutions and fixes onsite.

· Team leader who's happy to develop, mentor and pass on skills and training to others.

· Able to assist in other areas of the business when not on live events i.e. Production, LX, driving or Warehouse.

  • Salary: £16-£18 per hour with uplifts for overtime, unsociable hours & on call - with some negotiation possible for highly qualified candidates.

    Pay: £16.00-£18.00 per hour

    Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
