Full Job Description

In this role you will work across all business functions and with third-parties to understand the intent of each change and its impact on the market, our customers and people, our operations, and our technology stack. You will capture what is required, and work across our delivery teams and third-parties to support our ultimate goal: that project outcomes exceed expectation.

You will need to cope with ambiguity and use your skills to bring people together. You will need to flex your focus and move effortlessly from strategic, macro problems to the micro detail of processes and systems. You need to have the communication skills and positive mindset required to work with disparate teams and feel confident presenting your thoughts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels, and third-parties.

As a Senior Business Analyst you will be expected to support, encourage and lead the development of other members of the team, bring maturity to the BA disciplines and strive to identify and implement improvements.

Project Delivery

  • Lead the analysis of stakeholder objectives and conduct investigative work to understand business requirements, adapting to the complexity of each task and stakeholder communication styles.

  • Propose improvements to business practices based on detailed analysis of requirements, existing processes, and data, suggesting new processes as needed.

  • Create clear, concise documentation of current processes and workflows, and track changes in any newly implemented processes.

  • Identify interdependencies between tasks and provide recommendations for review and decision-making.

  • Mediate and resolve conflicts between stakeholders as they arise.

  • Contribute to the selection of business analysis methods, tools, and techniques for projects, choosing between predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure proper preparation and approval of assets for delivery.

  • Translate business requirements into functional and non-functional requirements for engineering and delivery teams.

  • Identify potential risks and escalate when needed.

  • Provide clarifications to engineering teams and ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.

  • Work with testing teams to ensure thorough test coverage and support the execution of tests.

  • Collaborate with delivery teams and provide regular updates to stakeholders on the progress of tasks.

  • Complete pre- and post-implementation checklists and reviews to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Operational Support and Continuous Improvement
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the company's products and services, providing expertise to operational teams and facilitating the resolution of operational issues.

  • Share insights and drive improvements based on lessons learned from previous projects.

  • Continually seek areas for improvement in workflows and business practices.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and share relevant learnings with the team.

    Technical Skills / Knowledge

  • Excellent Business Analysis methods and techniques.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with high emotional intelligence.

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (both iterative and waterfall); familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence.

  • Understanding of technology architecture, web technologies, and software development life cycles.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Teams, with advanced skills in Visio and UI design tools.

  • Experience with data analytics and reporting tools.

  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools.

  • Domain knowledge of insurance or financial services is preferred, however behaviours and potential to learn are key and we would not discount people new to financial services/insurance.

  • Career Experience
  • A minimum of 8 - 10 years experience performing a Business Analyst role, with 2+ years in a lead or senior analyst role

  • A proven track record of having led the Business Analysis activities including development of the BA approach, gathering and documenting of business requirements in accordance with template/s and guidelines, ensuring requirement traceability and end user preparedness

  • Exceptional ability to work with business, Design and Technology teams to create comprehensive UI designs, process flows, and requirements documentation to define hole-proof deliveries

  • Demonstrable experience of having worked on projects with high levels of complexity, while concurrently handling smaller change, leading and working independently and using rigorous project management disciplines

  • Process-oriented, and being able to demonstrate that you can define and embed best practices across a team

  • Experience working with multiple third-party vendors and suppliers

  • Experience of having worked in an in-house software development team is desirable
