Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Specialist for Children within the Trust. The focus on the work will be to provide Specialist advisory, supportive and educative services to colleagues across the Trust with a focus upon Safeguarding Children.

The post holder will contribute to the Safeguarding Children's work streams within the Trust and facilitate multi-professional / interagency working and training in respect of Safeguarding Children.

The post holder will work with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to ensure that there are robust internal policies and guidance in place, and will act as a focal point for the dissemination of information in relation to policy, procedures and training. They will assist the Named Nurse for Children to develop professional safeguarding standards and promote best practice. They will be accessible and visible across Trust areas and support colleagues with accurate and relevant information to enhance safeguarding knowledge and support risk escalation.

They will act as a point of contact in order to provide advice and specialist knowledge for Trust colleagues and be the wider link for partners across the multi-agency network. They will participate in multi-agency sub-groups as directed by the Named Nurse and support in work related to safeguarding incident or reviews., Refer to full job description and person specification for further details on duties:

  • To provide specialist advice and support on Safeguarding Children matters for all colleagues across the Trust.

  • To develop, maintain and evaluate a training programmes

  • To support colleagues managing complex safeguarding situations to enhance their development, competence and confidence in the management of Safeguarding children cases.

  • To access legal advice when appropriate and ensure all case escalation are shared and discussed with the Named Nurse, Deputy Head or Head of Safeguarding.

  • undertake regular audit activity as directed.

  • quality assure Safeguarding Referrals within the Trust and maintain current databases, ensuring responses to any emerging themes are identified and discussed with the Named Nurse.

  • Participate in committees, forums and meetings as identified by the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children.
