Full Job Description

Ideally, you will have experience as a Registered Manager, undergone an Ofsted inspection, and assisted in setting up the home and completing the registration process.

Our ideal RM will have their Level 5 L&M and worked with various young people and staff in their career. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a safe and loving home from scratch.

Job Purpose

To ensure designated Home meets the standards for Ofsted and act on behalf of the organisation to ensure that the Home meets the relevant requirements set out in legislation.

To provide effective care as part of Guidance Care's residential services for children and young people. To ensure a high standard of consistent care and service in accordance with legislation, central government guidance, regulations and standards, and the policies and procedures of Guidance Care.

You will have the overall responsibility for the day to day running of your home and will be responsible for:

  • Gaining successful registration with OFSTED

  • Assist in setting up the home from scratch

  • Recruiting a full staff team and inducting them

  • Ensuring the highest quality of care

  • Managing budgets

  • Ensuring that all current legislation is met

  • Developing and maintaining key relationships with children, staff, parents, and professionals

  • Evidencing the management and development of your staff team

  • Developing your home on an ongoing basis, As a home manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and continued success of the service ensuring high quality standards are achieved whilst providing strong leadership and support to the team.

  • Acting as a Designated Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer.

  • Taking a lead role in consultation with Our children, families, and other professionals

  • Having a diligent approach to managing referrals

  • Ensuring we adhere to all Ofsted, health and safety, and current legislation requirements.

  • Ensure effective service delivery in line with the policies and procedures of the Home and the


  • Company.
  • Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practices, homes procedures, company policies and children's homes regulations.

  • Ensure that Ofsted Inspection Recommendations / Requirements are acted on in a timely fashion and all actions are recorded and reported to the relevant people for actioning.

  • Manage and monitor financial systems in respect of pocket monies, personal allowances, food, refreshment, and transport


  • Quality and Service Development
  • Ensure effective risk assessment/personal safety procedures are in place to protect staff and service users in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and keep under regular review

  • Monitor ongoing quality of service provision including people and environmental risk management

  • Manage, record and coordinate responses to complaints in line with organisational policy and timescales

  • Effectively demonstrate service compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality

  • Standards 2015 and the Single Social Care Inspection Framework (SSCIF)

  • Promote and maintain a culture of continuous service improvement

  • Ensure the Quality of Care Report (Regulation 45) is submitted to Ofsted twice yearly and that the monthly Regulation 44 visits are carried out by an Independent person


  • Other Requirements
  • Attend regular supervision sessions

  • Being familiar with all policies and procedures and adhering to them

  • Work at other sites as and when required

  • Attend young people's meetings and contribute toward them

  • Driving company vehicles (current driving licence holders subject to procedures)

  • Undertaking training appropriate to the role and maintaining an up-to-date training profile

  • Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organisational Health and Safety Policies

  • On call responsibilities.

    Please Note:
    The post holder will be expected to continuously develop in their role. It is in the nature of the work of Guidance Care that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances unpredictable and varied. All staff are, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way and when the occasion arises tasks which are not specifically covered in their job description have to be undertaken but which will be within their level of responsibility. These additional duties will normally be to cover unforeseen circumstances or changes in work, and they will normally be compatible with the regular type of work. If the additional responsibility or task becomes a regular or frequent part of the staff member's job, it will be included in the job description in consultation with the member of staff.
