Full Job Description

The OGC Assistant - Compliance & Ethics is an integral part of Latham's Office of the General Counsel team. This role will be responsible for supporting the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program, DAC 6, and other compliance programs in multiple offices across the firm, while conducting corporate research, identifying required AML documentation needed to verify client identity and the identity of any beneficial owners, and collecting required AML documentation. This role will be located in our Manchester office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Other key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to questions from lawyers and attorney support team members regarding AML documentation requirements and status of AML documentation collection; monitoring the shared email inbox for these types of queries

  • Providing regular reports on the status of AML documentation collection efforts and refreshes outdated AML documentation

  • Ensuring that the timeframe for providing AML documentation is met by lawyers and attorney support team members by scheduling and sending follow-up emails to lawyers and secretaries to request the AML information and, where necessary, escalating non-responses to appropriate firm personnel

  • Assisting other AML team members on refreshing AML packets or helping with backlog in their jurisdictions and providing ad hoc support with specific projects or holiday cover

  • Monitoring the shared email inbox for relevant notifications, including responding to high-priority notifications

    Demonstrate the advanced ability to perceive and analyse problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them

  • Display well-developed and professional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with lawyers, management, support staff, and outside contacts

  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal


  • And have:
  • A High school diploma or equivalent, with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred

  • Relevant compliance experience including research functions, or related law firm experience
