Full Job Description

Day-to-day tasks will vary but include:

  • Servicing - carrying out vehicle/tyre checks

  • MOT's - assisting to identify parts with wear and tear

  • Vehicle Maintenance - replacing/repairing engine parts

  • Diagnostics - using the latest diagnostic equipment

  • Maintaining repair and service records


    • The techniques and daily responsibilities you will learn will include:
  • Using diagnostic, mechanical and electrical measuring equipment to investigate vehicle faults and identify their underlying causes

  • Inspecting and preparing fleet vehicles ready for mechanical work

  • Removing, repairing or replacing components to the correct specification

  • Contributing to a safe working environment, by working within Health and Safety processes

  • Admin duties that include updating job cards, Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Apprenticeship Standard:

  • During this 3-year apprenticeship programme, you will attend the GTA one day per week

  • At the GTA you will learn the underpinning knowledge and understanding of the main aspects of the motor vehicle service and maintenance technician apprenticeship

  • The training is delivered in the classroom, IT suite and in our state of the art workshop

    Communication skills, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Administrative skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Initiative, Physical fitness, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) Desired

    • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) Desired

    Motor Depot Limited was incorporated in 2001 and has grown over the past 20 years to become CarSupermarket.com with 10 retail sites and 2 car preparation sites. As an Apprentice you will be based at our Grimsby site which has an enhanced indoor display area to boost showroom space, and a service and prep centre, with the capacity to stock up to 150 vehicles.
