Full Job Description

In this high-impact role, you will join the main leadership of the charity with responsibility for developing and implementing a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to deliver fundraising priorities and diversify its income portfolio.
As a target-driven and highly motivated fundraising leader, you'll provide excellent leadership, direction and support for the fundraising team in the achievement of financial targets and objectives.
You will play a key role in developing a communications and engagement strategy for the charity, supporting the Marketing and Communications Lead to increase the visibility of our charity, expand our audiences and strengthen engagement across our digital platforms.
Experienced with data and financial management, you will set budgets and the annual fundraising plan. You will work with the management team to report against agreed targets and monitor KPIS and help to maintain an accurate and up to date database., · Together with the Director, lead and manage the development of the Charity's strategy and operational plans.
· Manage monitoring and control mechanisms for performance management, including monthly, quarterly and annual analysis against agreed objectives.
· Develop and evaluate fundraising plans for each specific project that identifies appropriate income streams and Charity activities and sets key milestones, targets and objectives for achievement. To oversee the development and evaluation of plans for each specific fundraising tactic.
· Develop plans for the operational and resourcing implications of the Charity's strategy, including human resources, budgets, targets and financial processes.
· Ensure that the Charity team's knowledge of charity law is upheld and that policies, systems and controls are maintained and continually strengthened to ensure adherence to the standards recommended by the Institute of Fundraising's Code of Fundraising Practice and the requirements of the Charities Acts 1992,1993 and 2022.
Leadership
· Maintain and develop key relationships with stakeholders - individuals and organisations.
· To lead on the development of corporate and major gift fundraising. To continually research, network and develop strong relationships with prospects, facilitating discussions and negotiations with high level individuals and organisation contacts.
· Leading and develop key strategic campaigns to ensure significant funds are received to benefit the Trust.
· Lead, motivate and inspire your team to exceed agreed targets and KPI's across existing income streams to excel.
· Together with the Director, be ultimately responsible for the donor journey, ensuring that a donor centric approach is at the core of all activity and high standards are developed and maintained throughout the Charity team to ensure the team deliver best practice in terms of donor stewardship and reporting.
· Maintain the brand and public profile of Southmead Hospital Charity and North Bristol NHS Trust.
· Keep up to date on the latest fundraising initiatives and technologies and innovate where appropriate.
Marketing and communications
+ Working with the Director, lead the development of marketing and communications for the Charity, including the development of high-quality promotional literature, materials and other communication mechanisms, which adhere to the appropriate policies, effectively communicate the case for support and reflect the vision and values of the charity.
Corporates
+ Lead the Charity's strategy and programme of work with corporate relationships.
+ Research and cultivate relationships with local businesses and local branches of national companies to identity the best prospects for the Charity. To initiate and develop long term relationships with the aim of securing financial and "in kind" support.
+ Oversee the planning, organisation, research, analyse and submission of high-quality applications and packages that will attract businesses support.
+ Oversee corporate fundraising events and activities ensuring that these are well planned and supported.
+ Lead in the planning and organisation of cultivation events to raise the Charity's profile with corporates, working with the Director.
Line management
· Coach and develop your team to excel.
· Motivate the Charity team to reach its full potential through development, training and supervision via the NBT appraisal system and appropriate HR policies.
· Undertake future recruitment with the support of Employment Services as required.
· Be a part of leading a culture that is ambitious, supportive and successful.
Finance and data management
· Deliver agreed income targets as agreed by the Southmead Hospital Charity Committee in line with the Trust's expectations for its major fundraising campaigns. This will usually be in excess of £1.5m annually
· Work with the Head of Operations and Director to ensure that fundraising income is allocated appropriately in line with designated and restricted fund structure and codes. This is implemented by the Charity Financial Controller and their team in line with the Trust's standing financial instructions.
· Management of Trust fundraising budgets, ensuring that budgets set for fundraising staff and resources are met within pre-determined parameters.
· Develop a sound financial management plan with responsibility for the management of financial and non-financial resources for the charity appeal. Continually Monitor and evaluate performance of all income streams to achieve agreed KPIs and ROI ratios.
· Identify and implement corrective action when needed to ensure objectives are achieved.
· Together with the Director, oversee the development and maintenance of an effective and accurate fundraising database to ensure best practice in donor communications and stewardship.
· Work with the management team to provide Southmead Hospital Charity Committee with quarterly reports against agreed targets.
· Provide updates to Trust Board where appropriate
· Ensure the Charity is fully compliant with GDPR legislation and as appropriate, report to the Trustees on relevant issues.
Leadership, teamwork and collaboration
· Provide motivational, strong and effective leadership for a team of staff and volunteers.
· Coach, train and develop your team in line with Trust expectations.
· Liaise at the highest level within the Trust developing and maintaining close relationships with the Trustees.
· Develop a fundraising environment that is innovative, progressive and proactive.
· Work collaboratively with key groups and staff, including senior colleagues within North Bristol NHS Trust to develop and improve services.
· Organise and lead meetings for staff, including team meetings and regular planning and monitoring.
Risk Management
· Work with the Director to provide accurate and up to date information towards the Charity's risk management system, ensuring appropriate governance in accordance with Fundraising Regulator and Trust guidelines.
· Adhere to policies relating to working with patients and their families, particularly in the context of their continued support of the Trust's work through charity fundraising.
· Demonstrate emotional maturity in dealing with supporters who may be distressed, due to the nature of their activity (e.g. fundraising in memory of a loved one).
· Contribute to the Directorate's emergency and contingency planning.
