Full Job Description

Family Hub Connectors will facilitate families' access to necessary support and services. They will assist parents in accessing early years services, overcoming engagement barriers, and devising action plans to enhance involvement with new families. Additionally, they will promote inclusivity within early years services, ensuring parental involvement in decision-making processes that shape service design and delivery, including the creation of high-quality volunteering opportunities. Furthermore, Family Hub Connectors will aid parents in broadening their understanding of the impacts-both positive and negative-on child development and parental well-being, thereby enabling them to achieve positive outcomes for their children.

Main Duties:

-Direct families towards resources and tools conducive to positive decision-making for themselves and their children.
-Collaborate with the community to co-produce initiatives that influence service engagement.
-Act as integral members of the Family Hub approach, working directly with families, professionals, and partners to empower them and foster thriving communities.
-Maintain appropriate communication with key stakeholders regarding the Transformation Programme, ensuring they are briefed on progress and potential challenges.
-Establish constructive relationships with families and external agencies, effectively conveying families' needs to other agencies and facilitating knowledge exchange.
-Formulate strategies to diminish and eradicate engagement barriers.
-Support the participation levels of various Family Hub programmes, such as peer support services, infant feeding support, perinatal mental health and parent-infant relationship support, parenting courses, library initiatives, pregnancy and pram walks, and healthy eating/physical activity courses.
-Operate within community settings, including booking clinics, hospitals, GPs, and libraries, to engage with pregnant women and their partners during the first trimester.
-Gather data and evidence to illustrate the impact of their interventions on referral uptake and sustained contact, showcasing improved outcomes.
-Identify and chart local resources, networks, connections, and community assets capable of enhancing the health and well-being of children, young people, and families within a given locality.
-Collaborate directly with the Voluntary and Community Sectors, contributing to and bolstering the development and implementation of the Family Hub Transformation Programme.

Possession of a relevant qualification at NVQ level 3 or above, or equivalent experience.
-Previous experience in the sector, coupled with a solid understanding of the services offered by the Children Services directorate.
-Experience collaborating with other agencies and partners to enhance outcomes for children and young people.
-Awareness of Equality and Diversity issues pertinent to young people, their families, and local communities, alongside an understanding of Health and Safety requirements.
-Knowledge of partner operations, including schools, health agencies, housing providers, etc.
-Familiarity with relevant benefit systems and funding sources.
-Strong interpersonal skills.
-Ability to prioritise and manage workload efficiently to meet agreed timescales and deadlines.
-Proficiency in handling difficult, sensitive, and emotionally charged situations with families.
-Capability to work autonomously within office/Hub settings and the community.
-Competence in ICT, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet applications.
-Capacity to handle confidential information.
-Aptitude for working independently and collaboratively within a team.
-Demonstration of professional integrity.
-Ability to motivate and develop others.
-Problem-solving skills and the ability to offer viable solutions.
-In-depth knowledge of available local services.
-Proficiency in community engagement strategies and practices.
