Our People Services team has been instrumental in supporting the organisation to adapt to hybrid working, developing skills required to navigate new digital systems, helping managers lead their teams remotely, providing enhanced health and wellbeing interventions and a varied learning and development offer to the organisation.

The current People Strategy sets priorities and areas of focus to lead the organisation in becoming a greater place to work. Driven by this agenda, the Employee Relations Team has been re-aligned to support the emerging needs of the business and provides a range of advice and guidance to managers under a Business Partner Model. To support this transition, we are seeking a professional, results-oriented and pragmatic Employee Relations Business Partner to join us.

About you:

Reporting to the Employee Relations and Wellbeing Manager you will provide specialist employee relations support to a range of employees on varying Terms and Conditions. You will advise on a range of employee relations activities including employee relations cases and departmental change initiatives. You will act as a coach to department managers by sharing your employee relations expertise and best practice, in order to fully embed the key initiative to ensure fairness and compassionate approaches to individuals.

You will also assist with project work including reviewing policies to ensure consistency and best practice and the training and development of managers to undertake less complex employee relations activities independently, to allow individuals to feel supported in an environment where goals and expectations are clear. You will also monitor and use performance data to inform and drive change.

Due to the nature of the role, you could be required to work from a variety of locations including Greater Manchester Fire Headquarters in Swinton, Tootal Building in Manchester City Centre as well as a number of Fire Stations across your Business Partner service delivery area.

As an employee relations specialist you will have experience of supporting with a full range of casework including attendance management, capability and disciplinary. You will have experience of supporting with organisational change processes. You will be a tenacious and resilient individual with the ability to communicate effectively and work to tight deadlines under pressure.
