Full Job Description

The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager with the best possible standard of care, to ensure it is delivered to all residents. You will work closely with the Registered Manager, leading together on safeguarding, quality, and governance to improve and develop all aspects of care. The person will provide visible clinical leadership and influence the development of services to ensure continuous improvements in quality of care. They will also ensure the patient experience and learning of lessons, influence future developments and are embedded in everyday practice.

What you'll be working:

  • 42 hours a week

  • Worked flexibly across the 24 hour period / 7 days a week

  • Be on call when required.


  • What you'll be doing:
  • The post holder will have responsibility for the leadership and line management of staff across all areas and is the named lead for all quality and governance.

  • The post holder will responsible for ensuring delivery of safe and clinically effective care, providing assurance.

  • They will ensure that residents receive care, which is safe, responsive, compassionate, caring and well led.

  • The post holder will promote a culture of openness and responsiveness to the views of residents and relatives, a philosophy of person-centred care and recovery, and an ethos of positive learning from incidents within a high performing service.

  • The post holder will be able to balance this philosophy with a passion for co-ordinating and leading patient safety. They will lead and continually improve quality acros, ensuring it is embedded as a day-to-day responsibility of all members of staff.

  • The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery of safe, clinically effective and compassionate care.

  • The post holder will lead the governance agenda on behalf of the Registered Manager, to ensure compliance with all external and corporate quality agendas and regulators, including the Care Quality Commission and ICB Commissioners.

  • The post holder will provide highly credible, visible leadership and ensure that quality of care is delivered to the highest, evidence based possible standards; they will ensure that the highest possible standards of infection control and cleanliness exist in all areas.

    Strong organisational, time management, planning and communication skills.

  • Flexible, professional, and positive approach to multi-site working.

  • Minimum 1 year's supervisory experience in the health and social care sector.

  • Minimum of Level 3 NVQ or QCF Diploma in Health & Social Care and working towards Level 5 Diploma.

  • Full working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Safeguarding frameworks.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual. To provide direction to team supervisors and support workers.

  • Self-confidence and the ability to manage challenging situations.

  • Ability to address and respond to employee issues in a fair and consistent manner. Including informal and formal performance management.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
