Full Job Description

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Autism department ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs tailored to the needs of students with Autism.

  • Managing a team of teaching and support staff within the Autism department, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development.

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and implement curriculum content, teaching materials, and learning initiatives that promote inclusive environments for students with Autism.

  • Leading the planning, design, and delivery of programs and interventions to support the diverse needs of students with Autism, incorporating evidence based strategies and best practices.

  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and learning practices within the Autism department, implementing improvements as necessary to enhance student outcomes.

  • Managing self-assessment and quality assurance processes within the Autism department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

  • Providing oversight and management of course records and associate systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of student data.

  • Acting as a point of contact for parents, carers, and external agencies involved in supporting students with Autism, fostering positive relationships and communication channels.

  • Leading and facilitating regular team meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning sessions to promote continuous learning and improvement within the Autism department.

  • Collaborating with the Multidisciplinary Team to create Individual Learning

  • Plans (ILPs) and ensure alignment with Individual Learner Schedules (ILS) for students with Autism.

    To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience with students who have Autism and other learning difficulties.

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent Post-16 tutor qualification.

  • Leadership experience, including managing a team of teaching and support staff within an educational setting.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Autism education, including knowledge of sensory impairments, communication difficulties, and differentiated curriculum development.

  • Proven ability to implement and evaluate teaching strategies that support the diverse needs of students with Autism.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices in Autism education.

  • A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving, with a strong commitment to the welfare and development of students with complex disabilities.
