Full Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, overhaul, and repair water treatment and distribution systems, industrial waste treatment equipment and collection systems. The successful applicant will lead teams in performing all preventative and corrective
tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various types of equipment located in the water and wastewater treatment plants and systems, to include collection systems, pipe distribution networks, and industrial control systems. In addition, they will lead personnel in examining and troubleshooting general industrial plant machinery, equipment, and systems to determine area(s) of difficulty and performance shortfalls. They will plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders and identify and supervise preventive maintenance services. They will be expected to utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.,

  • Hours of work: Mon-Fri 0730-1600. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization's flexible working policies.

  • Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

  • May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.

  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.

  • A 6-month probationary period will be required.

  • Overtime may be required.

  • May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training., 1. The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. A Category B driver's license is required.

    We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Industrial Equipment Mechanic Work Leaders at the 48 Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom., 1. Applicants are required to have a BTEC Level 3/City and Guilds/NVQ in an appropriate discipline (such as Mechanical (or) Electrical Engineering).

  • 2. Knowledge in planning work and leading teams to perform corrective and preventive maintenance tasks.
    3. Ability to teach, lead, and independently diagnose, plan, and complete projects or work orders involving major water and wastewater systems in their entirety.
    4. Knowledge of mechanical, electric, and electronic procedures, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components of industrial plant support machinery and equipment.
    5. Knowledge of operating characteristics of the involved systems and equipment, and the applicable installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices.
    6. Knowledge and ability to use and work with test equipment and measuring devices, such as micrometers, dial indicators, anometers, and volt meters.
    7. Knowledge of safety practices, regulations, and procedures.
    8. Knowledge of materials and parts used in wastewater treatment plant maintenance and installation of new equipment; and both primary/secondary water and wastewater treatment processes.
    9. Skill in use of hand and power tools and a variety of test equipment.
    1O. Skill and ability to read and use the requirements in technical manuals, shop directives, multi-view blueprints, sketches, diagrams, work orders, and other specifications.
    11. Ability to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and maintain water and wastewater treatment plant equipment.
    12.Ability to make templates, jigs, and other fixtures required for repair or installation
