Full Job Description

MacIntyre has an opportunity for a Trainee Payroll Assistant with a passion for excellence and best practice to join our team. The role will involve working closely with the Payroll Manager and the Payroll team processing monthly payroll (full time, part time, term time and relief contracts) for over 1800 employees.

This role would be ideal for somebody who is at the start of their payroll career, able to learn quickly and who would like to progress and develop within the role.

This is a full time office based role Monday to Friday 35 hours per week.

Do you have experience working in a Payroll team? Are you well-organised, with great attention to detail? Then come and join our friendly team!,

  • A high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Background knowledge and understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP would be an advantage but not essential.

  • System knowledge working with iTrent would be an advantage, but training will be provided.

  • Strong and effective communications skills both written and verbal and an ability to explain sensitive matters to employees at all levels.

  • Ability to work within and promote a collegiate culture and work effectively with individuals at all levels within the organisation.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

  • Good MS Office knowledge.

  • The ability to prioritise and work under pressure.


  • Be proactive and motivated, displaying a positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
