Full Job Description

  • Plan and coordinate execution of the annual strategy development process, driving collaboration and alignment with CFUs and CU:

  • Prepare and refine the overall strategy development process including defining the strategic agenda.

  • Support BT Group's direction setting by driving collaboration with relevant CFUs through resolution of strategic questions, to ensure full ownership and appropriation from key stakeholders

  • Set and track key milestones and deliverables through A2030 KPIs, strategic programmes and Unit MTP delivery

  • Collect, understand and consolidate inputs from key stakeholders and in the CFUs/CUs

  • Challenge inputs against wider Group strategy, risks and priorities

  • Drive agenda of key review/iteration meetings

  • Drive continual improvement in the strategic planning process

  • Contribute to designing BT Group's strategy and articulating the key priorities for the year

  • Gather input from the CFUs/CUs to define objectives, milestones, success measures, and key priorities while ensuring alignment to BT Group's strategy

  • Support Strategy Committee with meeting preparation and facilitation

  • Prepare for key strategy days (ExCo, Board, SLT) with agenda, meeting design, materials consolidation, quality control, involvement of key stakeholders, logistics and execution

  • Monitor key strategy, technology and competitor risks facing the Group, propose mitigations and prepare risk reports

  • Coordinate and prepare key components of BT Group's annual report, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective communication of BT Group's progress against its strategy.

    Excellent project management skills; great at execution and detail orientated

  • Ability to manage large number of fragmented stakeholders

  • Strong financial background and ability to understanding key drivers; able to assess quality of inputs provided by CFUs/CUs (e.g. evaluating business cases, financial planning)

  • Experience and interest in Strategy, Strategic Planning, or Strategy Development in a corporate strategy environment or a consulting firm

  • Experience in commercial planning

  • Understanding of the Telco or broader TMT sector

  • Corporate Strategy and Development has a critical role to play as we continue to shape and deliver the Group's plan and strengthen the alignment of our units around a single BT Group strategy. In a rapidly changing environment, it is critical that we take an integrated approach on how we drive value from our assets and transform our business. This integrated strategy brings together commercial and business strategies, supports long-term growth and profitability.
    This role is responsible for coordinating the execution of the annual strategy development process to drive strategic dialogue, enabled by strong market and competitive intelligence. It will support setting BT Group's strategic framework in close collaboration with Customer Facing Units (CFUs) and Corporate Units (CUs) across BT Group. You will have visibility across CFUs on the key strategic decisions and trade-offs that need to be made. You will be expected to understand and challenge CFU plans including business cases and capex allocations to ensure BT Group continues to be a profitable, innovative, customer focused organisation.
