Full Job Description

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. you will conduct engineering analysis and modelling for through life submarine availability that keep our submarines safe at sea.

Day-to-day, you'll be providing effective Support modelling and analysis using your analytical skills to enable a foundation for an informed, evidence-based maintenance support programme to meet MOD project requirements for increased submarines availability, capability, and sustainment engineering.

You will exploit both data and digital technology to deliver data-led insights into submarines availability. The output of your modelling activities will provide the backbone of quantitative evidence required to inform and support the Maintenance Upkeep and Operating Cycle (MUOC) and through life maintenance planning activities.

This role is full time, 35 hours and will be based at on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.

Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer

  • Competency with logic or programming, ideally experience with Python or similar.

  • High level of computer literacy, comfortable with Excel.

  • Able to identify technical risks and issues and raise mitigating actions, including developing proposals for investigations and/or solutions / process improvements., Working towards professional registration of an accredited STEM body such as IMechE, INCOSE, IMarEST or IET

  • You'll be qualified to minimum of a degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, System, Data or Maths). Experience in lieu of formal education would be considered.


  • Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
