Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and motivated leader to be Second in Charge of Mathematics in this thriving and popular department. The successful candidate will possess excellent subject knowledge and be a highly effective teacher who uses a broad range of teaching methods. Working closely with the Head of Maths, the postholder will be required to design and deliver a high-quality curriculum across all key stages. They need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a willingness to innovate and the ability to foster positive and supportive relationships with students, parents and staff. They will be able to teach across the whole range of age and ability, including A-level Maths. The department also teaches Further Maths.

Maths is a very popular subject choice at A Level and we usually see over 50% of our pupils choosing to continue with Maths into the Sixth Form. We currently have over 130 pupils in the Sixth Form studying Maths, 38 of whom currently study Maths and Further Maths.

This post would suit anyone ready for a leadership role in a successful department and would serve as excellent preparation for progression towards a Head of Maths role or other academic leadership opportunity. A willingness to be involved in the pastoral and co-curricular life of this busy and vibrant Day School is expected.

The post is full-time and permanent. King Edward's School operates its own salary scale, which is enhanced above the National State Qualified Teachers' Scale and the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
