Full Job Description

As a Researcher you will be supporting the challenges facing Hampshire and IOW for our purpose making Hampshire & Isle of Wight safe for everyone. Policing challenges are constant and ever evolving and Hampshire continue to strengthen the trust of all our communities through our delivery of fair, thorough, transparent and ethical policing., Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are recruiting for a researcher within our Corporate Analysis team. You will work on both quantitative and qualitative research and policing topics. You will be involved in a range of work across all areas of policing from crime affecting Hampshire's streets, insights into our organisation, understanding how we Police our communities ethically and effectively as well as demand on our resources. It is about researching, identifying, collecting, assessing and interpreting a range of information sources, to deliver valuable and influential research to tackle threat, risk and harm., Diversity is something we welcome and want to actively increase to be representative of the diverse communities we serve. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Collaborate with customers to identify and assist problem solving, identify appropriate and relevant data sources for the task at hand.

2. Research, collate, evaluate and disseminate information from a wide range of open and closed information sources in relation to problems, patterns, trends and series to support analysis.

3. Produce, evaluate and take responsibility for creating accurate, high quality and easy to use reports and contribute to products produced by analysts.

4. Liaise with and work in partnership with other organisations, to gather and research information

5. Maintain knowledge of the current products and Force priorities.

6. Prepare data, charts, maps etc. to support investigations and operations (for example, major Force events) as required., Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is an inclusive employer and strives to have a workforce representative of the communities we police and serve. Flexibility and creativity in your thinking are key, as is a keen interest in data and taking ownership to develop and learn a variety of new topics. You will be part of a multi-facetted team, you will need good collaboration and negotiation skills, plus a talent for communicating clearly and concisely., Educated to Educated to QCF Level 2 (5 passes to include English language and Maths) OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level

Essential Experience

  • Experience of researching and collating data

  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate and timely reports

  • Ability to use own initiative and possessing good time management skills

  • Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
