Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a research assistant to join a new team within the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford, reporting to Professor Rachel Upthegrove within the Molecular Targets Theme of the NIHR funded Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre. The post holder will will be a key member of a new research group working within the broad aim of developing evidence for novel immune treatment targets in early psychosis. You will provide research support for establishing experimental medicine studies and collection of best evidence for stratification of participants with psychosis, as guided by project needs and individual experience. The post is full-time; however, consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 60% FTE) on a pro rata basis with appropriate adjustment of duties.
The post is for a fixed term (12 months with the possibility of an extension for a further two years)
You will take an active role in developing protocols participant information and study database set ups. You will assist in ethics applications and amendments as well as analysis of data from existing cohorts and newly collected data. The postholder will be encouraged to register for a DPhil with thesis within the broad areas of stratification for novel immune targets in psychosis.
You will hold a first degree in psychology, neuroscience or relevant subject area and be working toward a doctorate in a specialist discipline (see above - registration will be encouraged). Demonstrable knowledge of advanced data analysis within the field of mental health is essential as is the ability to work independently, seek supervision when needed and collaborate across a range of disciplines. Experience of working with participants with psychosis and recruitment from NHS Clinical services would be desirable.
