Full Job Description

The post anaesthetic care unit (Recovery) at Cheltenham General Hospital is seeking Nurses/ODPs to join their friendly and supportive team. The CGH Recovery team currently consists of 38 members of staff who operate in 3 recovery areas within Cheltenham General Hospital. Post operative specialties include Elective General Surgery, Urology, Breast, Colorectal, Upper GI, Gynae, Elective Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology.

Our busy recovery areas equate to 22 beds in total and our daily throughput of patients can range from 30-50 per day, which will increase due to our expanding theatre environment. Our department prides itself on delivering highly specialist quality care to patients of all ages.If you want to work in a dynamic and fulfilling team environment then this job is for you. We offer continual learning and you will be supported by mentors throughout your induction period.

We are currently offering full time, part time and fixed term contracts. A professional, friendly attitude and effective communication skills are keys to becoming successful in this role. -To assess, plan, implement, evaluate and provide high quality nursing care

-To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

-Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team

-To manage caseload of patients within defined clinical area

-Take on responsibility for personal development and support the development and supervision of others by developing and maintaining specialist knowledge pertaining to theatres

-To supervise and teach junior members of staff and learners as required, and maintain own personal development with support

-Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to less experienced/ non registered and new staff at all times

-To maintain clear, accurate and concise patient records in line with departmental and professional standards and include relevant outcome measures
