Full Job Description

The QA Manager will lead and manage the site quality assurance team. You will manage the site based quality systems, support delivery of BRC standards across the site and manage the delivery of all QA tasks across the site. You will ensure that relevant food safety, product quality and integrity standards are monitored and maintained.

Working hours: Mon - Friday 08.00 to 17.00 although some flexibility will be required to support all shifts and teams. This role will also provide out of hours support on alternate weekends and during holidays.

What you'll do (job tasks and responsibilities)

  • Ensure the operational process and production of finished goods is appropriately controlled, via HACCP, to ensure compliance with food safety and legal standards

  • Provide management support and regular meeting cadence to the QA team

  • Work collaboratively within the site and across all sites to deliver a consistent approach to food safety & quality

  • Champion and manage the site quality management system including document control in line with group/central systems to BRC standards

  • Review, generate and implement relevant FSQMS procedures & records as required

  • Conduct and coordinate food safety, quality and integrity root cause investigations (including complaints) and implementation of corrective and preventative actions with other departments

  • Ensure all relevant site allergen risk assessments, swabbing and validation programmes are completed and maintained

  • Facilitate and Support site audits

  • Work with the raw materials team to implement appropriate intake testing schedules

  • Develop and maintain GMP audits to include Fabric, Housekeeping, Glass & Hard Plastic, Personnel and PPE

  • Represent Food Technical in various site / multi department / project meetings when / as agreed with the Site Technical Manager

    Skills, knowledge and abilities required to be effective in this position

  • Experienced in a Supervisory or management position, ideally within a Food Technical capacity

  • Experience in Food Safety Quality Management System

  • Practical Internal Audit & Non conformance management experience

  • Allergen Management & risk assessment experience

  • Active HACCP team experience

  • Experience of operating to BRC standards

  • Experience in GMP auditing and Non conformance programmes

  • Experience of working with chilled or high risk foods (advantageous)

  • Full Driving licence

  • Google Workspace experience

  • Ability to analyse data, draw conclusions & make recommendations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

  • Good accuracy and attention to detail

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills of a team

  • Good problem solving and risk based decision-making skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, Qualified to a relevant Food Science, Food Technology or Microbiological degree standard or equivalent or minimum 5 years food technical experience.

  • Level 3 HACCP certified

  • Level 3 Food Safety certified.

  • Allergen Training

  • Auditor qualification
