Are you passionate about improving Public Health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in Stoke-on-Trent?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Public Health team.

A Public Health Officer fixed term position, until 31 March 2025 within the Live Well public health team.

The role could also be a secondment opportunity, in agreement with your line manager for those with relevant transferable skills keen to gain some further experience in Public Health.

You will support the coordination of key Public Health work programmes, working collaboratively with partners to ensure they are developed, implemented and evaluated to a high standard, with specific focus on drug and alcohol work.

The role will specialise on work related to Drug and Alcohol related deaths, and related public health work such as collaboration, wider determinants, behaviour change, and improving processes.

As a new post in the team the post will involve research, working with national teams and other Local Authorities, compiling background information, obtaining reports from the drug and alcohol services and Staffordshire coroners, engaging with professionals, benchmarking best practice, and liaising with other services involved in alcohol misuse in order to capture learning and drive improvements in services and systems.

You will have experience of project management and partnership working, and be a strong and confident communicator, with previous experience of working in public health or a related field.

You will report to the Public Health Programme Manager or Senior Public Health Officer, supporting them in one or more of the core functions of Public Health;
