Full Job Description

As a Project Manager - Electrical Works at Go Low Carbon, you will be an integral part of our team dedicated to promoting sustainable energy solutions, particularly focusing on commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of solar PV installations, from conception to completion, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety are maintained throughout the process., Project Management: Coordinate and manage all aspects of commercial solar PV projects, working with the Operations and Office Administrator, for all activities including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client specifications and industry standards. Ensuring hardware and other equipment is ordered as required, controlling stock held by the company. Working with, and overseeing, the design engineer in preparing quotations and variations to contracts. Supporting the technical aspects of quotations. Ensuring all projects are resourced according to the agreed plan.

Quality Management: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues promptly.

Onsite Installation: Undertake and oversee onsite installation activities, where necessary working closely with contractors and subcontractors to ensure smooth and efficient execution of electrical works. Provide technical guidance and support as needed to resolve any installation challenges or issues.

Commissioning: Lead the commissioning process for solar PV systems, ensuring all components are installed, tested, and integrated correctly. Coordinate with stakeholders to conduct performance testing and verify system functionality before handover to the client.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure ongoing performance and reliability of installed solar PV systems. Respond promptly to any maintenance requests or system failures, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Staff Development: Organising/delivering required training to staff within the Solar Operations team. Training to be based on team members individual requirements as agreed quarterly.

Product Development: Periodically reviewing and improving the product portfolio with the Operations Director. Reviewing and recommending new product technologies.

  • Electrical qualifications relevant to Solar PV installations. Commercial and domestic electrical installation qualifications to Gold Card standard. Solar and EESS training course certification to at least BPEC standard.

  • Proven experience in project management, preferably within the renewable energy sector.

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in designing, installing, and troubleshooting commercial solar PV systems.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage project timelines.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability principles.

  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and project management methodologies.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed to meet project deadlines or address emergencies.
