Full Job Description

Working collaboratively across the IMR and Anglian Water to achieve the best possible designs you will work closely with the relevant stakeholders both internal and external. Applying your technical expertise to prepare design documentation, considering the relevant standards, statutory obligations and regulations. Your design will fully consider Construction Design Management Regulations 2015 (CDM). Ensure designs reflect ecological, heritage and environmental considerations.

Here are just some of the activities you will be involved with…

  • Prepare CAD drawings, complete risk, impact, and H&S assessments, collating design briefs, cost benefit analysis, model embodied and operational carbon reduction.

  • Design the network solution for the scheme based on the optioneering analysis provided by the Planned works Engineer for programme areas such as Optimisation, mains replacement, DMA/ DZ splits, service pipe and comms pipe replacements.

  • Communicate with internal stakeholders on routine requests and liaise with the Highway Authorities, Fire Service, Environmental and other external agencies, where relevant, to generate the design brief and obtain all relevant consents

  • Arrange for appropriate external customer communications relevant to the scheme under design ensuring that all impacted parties are consulted

    You have Experience of working on water engineering or similar engineering design projects with working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, CDM Regs, PoSWSH & NRSWA. AutoCAD proficient having a good understanding of the impact and value of business risk


  • Essential skills include Graduate and/or BTEC Higher Technical qualification or equivalent in an appropriate discipline with knowledge of CDM with excellent IT skills and AW software applications experience, particularly SAP, along with problem-solving, resourcefulness, and effective communication.

    Desirable attributes include leadership, professionalism in client interactions, negotiation skills, and strong teamwork. A relevant professional or vocational qualification is required, along with a commitment to prioritising Health, Safety, and Environment.
