Full Job Description

As one of our Process Operators, your goal / purpose will be to safely operate, maintain and continuously improve complex batch or continuous production facility to defined standards to meet customer demands, upholding the Johnson Matthey Ethics and Values.

This a shift based position, working 12 hour Night and Day Shifts on a 24/7 rotational basis.
Your responsibilities:

  • Comply with all legislative and non-legislative EHS systems (e.g., COSHH, PTW, Risk Assessment, COMAH, emergency plans, Hazardous Area Classification, Lifesaving policies) and escalate issues as appropriate

  • Ensure that a safe and effective handover is completed

  • Complete T Card activities and create new ones to improve standards where appropriate

  • Complete 5S audits and identifying improvements and support as required

  • Carry out risk assessments for Standard Operating Procedures and updating as required

  • Isolate plant and equipment for maintenance activities to defined site standards and issuing Permits To Work where appropriate

  • Operate plant to performance targets and undertake appropriate interventions to safely meet production plan requirements in full, escalating issues as appropriate

  • Monitor quality specifications and take appropriate actions to avoid deviations from specifications

  • Accurately enter all raw materials and finished product into the appropriate stock control systems

  • Complete routine maintenance activities as required and identified on SOP's

  • Carry out or assist the engineering technician in Level 1 breakdown maintenance, investigations and repairs

    Experience in similar or other relevant manufacturing role

  • Excellent understanding of the safety requirements of a complex manufacturing plant with critical raw materials

  • Understanding of Operational Safety Manual (OSM) for the relevant plants

  • Confident in operating computers and use Microsoft Office applications

  • IOSH Working Safely (desirable)

  • Experience in carrying out Permit To Work (desirable)
