Full Job Description

Lancaster City Council is looking for an energetic and motivated Park Maintenance Operative to join the Public Realm department. The role involves working within some of the City Council's most high profile parks and open spaces. The post holder must take pride in their work, have a practical nature, enjoy hands-on work and be happy to share their enthusiasm with visitors.

It is an essential requirement that you are confident in carrying out a variety of maintenance tasks and help overlook and ensure the appropriate use of Morecambe Promenade. The role involves carrying out regular inspections, advising on byelaws where appropriate and managing visitors in a highly professional manner whilst delivering excellent customer service.

It is also essential that the post holder has a full current, UK driving licence. This is because the role entails travelling from site to site carrying out inspections, transporting equipment, and often working alone. Large distances will need to be covered.

You will work safely with risk assessments and in compliance with safety procedures, facilitating improvements and efficiencies with the resources available to you in an increasingly challenging environment. The post holder needs to be able to handle the pressures of a busy park environment, whilst balancing day-to-day priorities.

With training you will help oversee one of the largest Splash Park's in the North West and work with Seasonal Staff to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and our visitors at all times.

This role is permanent. The hours of work are 37 hours per week, working on a shift rota basis which will include weekends and bank holidays and your administrative centre will be White Lund Depot, Morecambe.
