Full Job Description

Plymouth City Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and hard-working Customer Service Apprentice to work in the Bereavement Service. This role provides an opportunity to develop invaluable skills that will be transferable throughout your working life, building on your existing communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
This is a customer-facing role and you will be responsible for delivering an excellent service for customer enquiries and high quality administrative support to the Bereavement Service.
The successful candidate will be handling and processing manual and electronic information where accuracy, confidentiality and security are vital. The tasks you will undertake include reception duties, meeting customers and funeral directors face to face and over the telephone and the administration of paperwork for the cremation or burial of deceased.
Applicants must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion as they will be dealing with highly sensitive information.
This is an exciting time to join the Bereavement Service as it prepares to move to Plymouth City Councils new crematorium, The Park in the Summer of 2024.
Funding & Assessments: Please be aware that if you are successful in your application you will be required to sit a functional skills assessment with the apprenticeship training provider. Your current and previous qualifications will also be checked to ensure that you are eligible for course funding.

Plymouth City Council is an equal opportunities employer. All applicants will be considered for employment regardless of age, care experience, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion/belief, sex or sexual orientation.
As part of our commitment to promoting equality we offer guaranteed interviews to those who meet the essential criteria and are considered disabled, care experienced or are an Armed Forces Service Leaver within the last two years.
