Full Job Description

To ensure Safer Food Standards are followed throughout the Nursery. To manage the food service provision, receiving hot and cold food from our supplier, Park School, preparing food where required, checking temperatures, allergy requirements and maintaining accurate records of Safer Food Processes. To serve and provide meals to all children and staff throughout the day.

To support the efficient running of the Nursery, keeping all areas of the Nursery, including the kitchen and all toilets, clean, tidy and organised. This includes washing, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning and sweeping as appropriate along with supervisory oversight of the Nursery Catering/Cleaning Assistant.

35 hours per week

Your role is to:

· To ensure the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery in accordance with Environmental Health procedures

· Maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety applying to children, colleagues, parents and visitors, maintaining a safe and secure environment

· Wear protective clothing in accordance with COSHH and Health and Hygiene regulations and Infection Control guidelines

· Provide feedback to line manager where repairs or maintenance is noticed and required in order to maintain high standards of cleanliness

· Ensure that the Nursery Manager is aware of the need for replacement or repair of materials and equipment for the satisfactory performance of the duties

· Help serve snacks, lunch and tea. Ensuring that all Food Hygiene Requirements are carried out with a high standard

· Complete relevant paperwork for compliance and in line with the Food Standard agency, Safer Food Standards.

· Ensure all food is stored correctly, labelled correctly and complies with known allergens

· Communicate with our food providers by confirming daily numbers, allergens and any other information and ordering more fruit and vegetables.

· Check all food items are in date (this includes all products used for sensory play)

· Ensure all the soiled laundry has been washed, dried and then put away regularly

· To maintain and follow all safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

· To promote positive relationships in the early years' setting

· Promote the health, safety and wellbeing of the children

· Provide and promote inclusion for all children, staff and students

· To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.

· To maintain and follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.

· To work alongside the manager and other staff to ensure that the setting's philosophy is fulfilled.

· All staff have a responsibility to notify the Nursery Manager of any concerns e.g. safeguarding, parents, activities, health and safety, SEN concerns

· Any other duties as required by the Nursery Manager or Deputy Nursery Manager within the scope and spirit of the role.

All staff within the nursery are subject to enhanced disclosure, baring checks, following safer recruitment guidelines, the nursery will always require 2 referees, and staff are required to complete a health self-declaration.
