Full Job Description

As the management accountant you will be a subject matter expert in technical financial accounting and support the Senior financial account to deliver all financial reporting services for the UK omni business. You will take the lead in accounting for more technical elements of the P&L and Balance sheet and work to ensure that appropriate financial controls and processes are operating across the business to protect both financial performance and the balance sheet. You will demonstrate financial curiosity to help analyse performance and ensure that reporting is accurate and representative of actual performance. This position is responsible for 2 direct reports.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of 2 part qualified accountants in preparing monthly reporting as well as annual reporting for internal and external reporting, working with the transactional processing teams to ensure reporting is accurate and timely

  • Own the month end reporting process to consolidate financial performance for the Sephora UK group and provide reporting to the Senior financial accountant for review/further analysis

  • Individually deliver accurate and timely reporting for but not limited to provisions for liabilities, revenue recognition and IFRS16 lease accounting

  • Analyse and understand variances in performance across the P&L and balance sheet to assist the Senior Financial Accountant and FD on understanding financial performance for further communication to the business

  • Be a key contributor to the annual audit, preparing elements of the financial statements in compliance with UK accounting standards and IFRS

  • Stay up to date with technical developments and proactively manage the adoption of any changes and the impact on financial performance where relevant

  • Understand the broader financial performance of the business and seek to improve financial controls and processes in areas that impact the P&L and balance sheet as the business evolves and grows

  • Understand the group reporting processes and with your team be responsible for all mandatory submissions in a timely manner

  • Work with your team to deliver the required reconciliations and ongoing reporting to support all UK regulatory returns, to enable accurate submissions to be made on a timely basis e.g. VAT, Payroll tax, Corp Tax

  • Be a champion of internal control and work with the broader finance team to ensure that all balance sheet accounts are understood and reconciled on a regular basis and certainly in line with the requirements of internal audit standards

  • Ensure that any actions required relating to Internal Audit are understood and addressed in a timely manner in the areas that you are accountable for

  • Partner with your peers in the EME finance team, building strong working relationships, and ensure that you balance the best interests of the UK business with the requirements of the central and global finance teams

  • Ensure that you are investing in your team with strong development plans, involvement in activities in the Northampton office and helping to drive engagement

    Experience of PQE in a financial role. ACA or CIMA qualified with most experience obtained in IFRS

  • Experience in Retail or ecommerce industry preferable

  • Highly commercial and able to challenge across the business

  • Advanced expertise with Excel applications (interactive excel, macros) and experience with SAP and Navision preferred

  • Dynamic, independent, creative and highly motivated person who works well with non financial colleagues

  • Must demonstrate strong strategic, analytical, interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
