Full Job Description

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for a HR Administrative Assistant to join their busy HR department.

Background:

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationally renowned research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing. 

The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership.

The Human Resources team provides support and guidance to managers and staff throughout the Institutes, on everything to do with people. Services span the whole employment experience from recruitment, performance and absence management to training and development, pay and benefits and leaving processes. We work pro-actively alongside Science to ensure that people’s skills and potential are realised. The team is also responsible for ensuring that the Institutes are both legally compliant with Employment Legislation and following accepted best HR practice.

The role:

The post holder will be responsible for providing efficient and effective administrative support to the Human Resources department. This will include:

Supporting recruitment activities, such as

·       arranging interviews

·       setting up rooms

·       creating and distributing interview packs

 General administration tasks, such as:

·       meeting and greeting visitors to the department

·       answering the phones; assisting with queries

·       creating and maintaining personnel files including scanning, copying, filing and saving documents

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English. Qualifications such as A Levels, CIPD Level 3, RSA Level 2 or equivalent are not essential would be advantageous. Candidates will have an awareness of information security procedures and excellent computer skills with significant experience using Word, Excel, Access and Outlook. They will have substantial and recent experience working in an administrative role and have proven experience in using HR or Data Management Systems. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential. Previous experience working in an HR or recruitment environment would be beneficial.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £22,000 to £26,750 pro-rata, per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a part-time post for 28 hours offered on an indefinite basis.
