Full Job Description

The role of the Health Care Assistant post within the Child Health Directorate is flexible and the post holder will, therefore, be required to provide support over a wide range of service/functions. Key to this flexibility is the requirement for staff to work variable hours on a week by week basis within agreed limits. The post holder will be required to work according to a locally agreed Code of Conduct for Nursing Assistants and to complete the Trust Care Certificate, the Directorate and Department induction and skill/competency based program.

As a Band 2 Health Care Assistant you would be required to support the nursing team by stocking up and fetching items; cleaning all areas including the family rooms; washing linen; making hot drinks for the families; daily equipment checks; and admitting and discharging patients and other admin duties when the ward clerk is not available. On occasion this role will require support the nursing team with patient turns and cares, or escorting patients to other departments.
