Full Job Description

You will report directly to the Group Financial Controller, however there will be other key stakeholders you will be responsible to engage with on a daily basis, being the Group Finance Director, FP&A Director, Finance Business Partners and parent Bright Scholar colleagues.

The role has three direct reports and co-ordinates and co-operates closely with financial and non financial colleagues. You will therefore be part of the financial reporting and taxation function.

The function is responsible for:
All areas of financial reporting compliance and statutory financial reporting (UK and US GAAP)
The management and completion of local and foreign territory statutory audits.
Management of the group's lease accounting database and calculations (US GAAP).
Completion and filing of tax returns, VAT returns and other statutory filings.
Supporting the Group Financial Controller; deputising when necessary; on monthly and quarterly reporting including administration of reporting systems.
Supporting the Group Financial Controller on financial accounting, tax and finance systems projects.
Supporting the reporting of actual and forecasted cashflows.
Maintain the group's internal control matrix and the group's SOX internal control compliance., Statutory/management reporting:
Consolidation to the parent group on a quarterly and ad hoc basis.
Prepare annual financial statements for UK subsidiaries (UK GAAP FRS 102).
Prepare financial reports for regulatory agencies.
Maintain the group's lease accounting database (US GAAP).

Audit:
Co-ordinate and manage the interim and year-end financial audits.
Provision of accurate and timely financial reports for statutory audit.
Co-ordinate audit of internal controls (Sarbanes-Oxley).
Co-ordinate and maintain the group's internal controls and policies.

Taxation/other statutory filings:
Responsible, with advisers, for suggesting and implementing Group tax strategy.
Timely filing of all corporate tax returns: UK, USA, Hong Kong
Timely filing of quarterly UK VAT returns.
Responsible for accurate and timely annual USA sales tax returns.
Responsible for Companies House filings as instructed by the Board of Directors.

Tax projects:
Ownership of corporate tax projects / enquiry processes [CA review, Cost Sharing Group, GSOP, ATCA).
Awareness of tax impact of commercial activities, and liaison point for other departments.
Transfer pricing implementation and maintenance of documentation.
Transfer pricing calculation and processing of TP adjustments for budget, forecasts and actual results. Estimated tax charges and disclosures:
Preparing estimated tax charges for the group financial statements including related disclosures for audit.
Preparing forecast tax charges for the purposes of quarterly payments under the GPA and related arrangements.
Preparing budgeted tax charges and related information as part of the budgeting and forecasting / business planning process.

Other:
Managing the regular clear down of intercompany trading balances and related loans to manage liquidity and currency exposures.
To support the Group Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and project requirements.

A fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
Previous financial control and management reporting experience.
Understands the importance of best practice technical reporting and financial controls / processes and have experience of assisting a business implement them on an operational
level. This would include development of complex, accurate and compliant budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
Has a track record of providing strong financial leadership internally, especially around areas such as cash management and establishing strong financial controls and rigorous processes.
Experience of and empathy with the challenges the business has faced and the impact these have had both internally and in the market, whilst bringing a positive viewpoint on growth,
performance and future opportunities.
Has a track record of operating in complex financial environments where the business is highly scrutinised.
Should be a self-starter, enthusiastic with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
Demonstrate good attention to detail and good judgement, showing logical decision making and a hands-on approach.
You will be hard working, diligent and a team player. Someone who can successfully engage at all levels of the business.
