Full Job Description

Reporting directly to the Software and Electronics Design Manager, you will be the key point of contact within the Software Design team for colleagues within our UKI (UK & Ireland) region.

The role will be based out of our Loughton, Essex office.

What you will do:

  • Collaborating with engineering team to achieve optimal PCB designs (reliability, cost, machine-wiring, manufacturability and serviceability

  • Detailed electronics design and schematic capture, applying EMC best practices

  • Liaising with PCB designers

  • Using the in-house Product Lifecycle Management software (Windchill) for maintaining designs, BOMs and documentation

  • Providing estimates for project planning, meeting deadlines, reporting progress

  • Hands-on trouble shooting of production issues plus occasionally field issues

  • Assisting technical documentation department

  • Assisting production with component scarcity and obsolescence issues

  • Assisting software and mechanical teams

    A degree in a relevant subject (Electronics or Physics)

  • Proven track-record in real-time embedded microcontroller based design and development with 5+ years of experience

  • Sound all-round and current knowledge of electronic components and understanding of key specifications and parameters

  • Good understanding of microcontroller interfacing techniques (communications, sensor, actuators etc)

  • Solid experience with schematic capture tools Concept HDL Design, OrCAD or similar

  • Familiar with motor drives (dc, ac and steppers)

  • Familiar with serial communications standards (RS232, I2C, SPI, CAN, USB)

  • Experience of designing for EMC compliance, sound knowledge of EMC principles

  • Experience of designing to meet safety approval standards (UL 60950, UL 62368)

  • Self-motivated, self-organized and committed to meeting deadlines

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Familiarity with 'C' or assembler language would be advantageous
