Full Job Description

  • Provide support, care, safety and advice to individuals arriving on site.

  • Help individuals to access support and services including healthcare, welfare, education and other essentials.

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with individuals - providing guidance and understanding at all times.

  • Escort individuals to meetings with partners, providing a welfare-driven security service at the site.

  • Assist in meeting and greeting, as well as integration of individuals during their time on site and assisting and communicating any changes or next steps in their asylum journey.

  • Be a communication and escalation point, assisting with movement around the site and performing regular and routine check ins with the individuals.

  • Be in regular contact with various on-site partners, recording and reporting appropriately any breaches of the rules and understanding of changes in policies and/or procedures., As part of the application process, you would be required to attend an Assessment Centre where they will assess your suitability for the role.


  • The Initial Training Course will equip you with the skills and knowledge you'll need to become a successful DCO. Becoming a DCO is subject to successful completion of this course and full CTC clearance. All offers of employment are subject to security clearance and enhanced background checks.

    The working hours will be 40 hours per week with a varied shift pattern on a rolling basis. The shifts will be as follows

  • Demonstrate high levels of human empathy, be a caring and compassionate individual who takes responsibility for their actions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to influence outcomes and be able to interpret and deescalate conflict verbally and without the need for use of force, unless truly necessary.

  • Experience of working with high-risk or vulnerable people would be beneficial, as well as experience of working in teams.

  • Demonstrable level of mobility and physical fitness required to undertake Use of Force training.

  • Be able to write, read and understand the English language (qualified to a minimum of level 2) to ensure you can complete all written reports and keep accurate records.

    A shift: 07:00 to 22:00
    D shift: 08:00 to 22:00
    M shift: 08:00 to 20:30
    Nights: 20:00 to 08:00 (7 nights on, 7 days/nights off - approx. every 7-8 weeks)
