We are welcoming applications for the role of Compliance and Administrative Officer with Devon & Cornwall Police based at the following location(s): Devonport Police Station, Fore Street, An exciting opportunity has arisen for a rewarding career with South West Forensics (SWF). As an ISO compliance and administrative officer you will be a valued member of the Forensic and ISO Quality teams where you will make a positive difference to the communities we serve and the Criminal Justice System.

South West Forensics is seeking high calibre Administrators for our Dorset and Devon and Cornwall based Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) departments. You will be a key contributor supporting Forensic Operations assisting CSI achieve and maintain ISO accreditation. You will have administrative and ISO compliance responsibilities, ensuring CSI departments operate efficiently and effectively.

Working alongside investigative colleagues and forensic specialists you will provide organisational support including record maintenance, consumables and equipment management, liaison between Forensic teams and key stakeholders and general office administration. You will ensure that quality standards are complied with to assist Forensic teams achieve standardisation and maintain quality for all aspects of Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic recovery.,

  • Copies of your qualifications relating to English and Maths (only). If applying for the Degree Holder Police Constable Apprenticeship, you will need a copy of your Degree Certificate.

  • Formal translation from a reputable source for any foreign language or symbol tattoos

  • Any paperwork relating to discharged debts, CCJ, bankruptcy etc

  • Deed poll certificate for any name changes

    We are seeking capable, enthusiastic and diligent administrators who will compliment, support and inspire our CSI teams to deliver on service. You will drive quality standards to help implement and sustain ISO 17020 accreditation requirements.


  • Ideally you will have previous administrative or compliance experience, but more importantly you will have the aptitude to ensure the smooth day to day running of a busy office, with excellent customer service and attention to detail, strong IT skills and the ability to work without direct supervision. The role will require face to face, email, Teams and telephone communication with a wide variety of people, including Home Office Pathologists, Police officers, Forensic specialists, members of the public and Forensic teams, so you must have also excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style as and when required.

    Salary: Grade 3 - Starts at £23,556 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £24,462 per annum
    Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

    Type of working arrangement: Static-Worker - A Static-Worker has little or no opportunity to work remotely as they need to carry out their work at a specific force premises, this could be for a number of reasons including the location of equipment. If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered a Fixed Term contract.
