Full Job Description
The Coaching Coordinator will be responsible for our OSH coaching programmes, community clubs and holiday programmes. The main purpose of the post is:
- To be responsible for the timetabling & monitoring of our OSH coaching programme, play mentor delivery and community provision.
- To work with the CEO to coordinate the organisation and running of the holiday programmes and new community clubs.
- To work with the Primary Curriculum Manager & Apprentice Tutor to oversee the development of our casual workforce including university links.
- To support & train coaches to deliver OSH & community sessions effectively.
- To promote & develop our community programme to a wider school audience.
- To deliver various training / activities to our local primary schools
- To deliver curriculum PPA or Team Teaching
- To support the Chief Executive Officer with other projects as directed, OSH & Community Coaching Programme
- To be responsible for the OSH & community programme, including deployment of staff, equipment and communication with schools / community partners.
- To direct and line manage the Community Coach & Assistant Community Coach
- To be lead contact for casual coaches, holiday staff and parttime coaches, including line management.
- Implement & deliver a quality assurance cycle, tracking the number of sessions delivered and their quality.
- Devise training sessions based on staff need (with support from Primary Curriculum Manager)
- To complete all necessary monitoring and evaluation required for internal and external reporting.
- To effectively work with the Holiday camp leads to plan, deliver, and review the holiday camps.
- To deliver various onsite workshops to our primary schools (e.g lunchtime supervisor training, play leader training) and collect the necessary reporting information.
- To plan and deliver high quality curriculum PE lessons that meet Ofsted and National Curriculum requirements (this could be Team Teach or PPA cover)
- To ensure that curriculum lessons offer progressive development and differentiation depending on the level of the participants within each session and across a scheme of work.
- To support the development of curriculum & OSH coaches by co delivering sessions where applicable or supporting with their planning.
- Effectively promote and market the holiday schemes and community clubs to the local community to increase uptake in the community.
- To liaise with our School Sport Manager and SGO to recruit school aged volunteers for our camps and community clubs.
- To work with local Universities and colleges to promote our volunteer and job opportunities to enable us to increase our casual & seasonal workforce.
- To effectively manage the finance and resources.
- Liaise with key partners such as Street Games, Sport Birmingham and sponsors.
- To liaise with the Erdington SGO to deliver bespoke workshops / events which will impact on our community work and the School Games Outcomes (eg club links, HAF taster sessions and community events).
- To be available to cover as required, including curriculum, OSH and workshops.
- To be available to deliver and support other projects and one-off events for Spark Active.

- To ensure all PE, sport and recreation activities take place in a safe environment with due regard to Health and Safety recommendations.
- To demonstrate knowledge of accidents, incident, and emergency procedures and to report any incidents in the correct way.
- Be committed to promote and market Spark Active via social media on a regular basis within data protection & safeguarding guidelines.
- To ensure equity in sport and promote fair play and the Spark Active values where appropriate.
- To promote exit routes to individuals whenever possible.
- Contribute to the overall ethos, aims and values of Spark Active and be a valued team member.
- To promote the work, the image of Spark Active by always maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly, professional approach at all times.
- Recognise your own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others.
- To undertake appropriate professional development including adhering to the principle of performance appraisal.
- To set an example, use initiative and be proactive.
- Attendance at appropriate staff meetings and training.
- Commitment to travel to different school sites for all aspects of job role.
- To commit and engage in one of the Spark Active working groups.
