Full Job Description

We currently have a vacancy in our Off-Site Daresbury Lab as a Cell Culture Technician. The main aim of this role is to perform routine cell culture to assist with the maintenance of the laboratory's mammalian cell lines and to support the Virologist with the daily operations of the Virology laboratory., Maintain laboratory cell cultures and prepare cell culture media.
- Employ careful aseptic technique and follow all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) closely, keeping full and accurate records.
- Assist the Virologist with the daily operation of the laboratory, including the maintenance of liquid nitrogen stores, stocking laboratory supplies, waste processing and other routine housekeeping duties.
- Support the Virologist in the maintenance of laboratory equipment, including performing in-house instrument calibrations, as required.
- Perform duties according to BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and adhere to laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all controls and practices appropriate for a Containment Level 2 laboratory.
- Ensure all procedures and documents are kept confidential.

General
- Adhere to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate logs and records.

Office Support
- Data control.
- Systems paperwork.
- UKAS and GLP support.

We are looking for a hard-working individual who is seeking a part-time position in a reputable company. An enthusiastic, friendly, and positive attitude is essential to work within a close-knit team., A-level (or equivalent) in a Science based subject (Mandatory)
- GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in Maths, Science & English (Mandatory)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Mandatory)
- Excellent organisational skills and time management (Mandatory)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to record and maintain accurate written records (Mandatory)
- BSc Degree in a Biological Science based subject (Desirable)
- Previous experience working with mammalian cell culture (Desirable)
- Previous experience working in a Containment Level 2 laboratory (Desirable)
- Understanding of aseptic techniques (Desirable)

The position is offered on a part-time, fixed term basis to cover maternity leave. There is potential for a permanent position upon completion of the fixed term period. There may also be some flexibility with the working pattern for the right candidate.
