Full Job Description

We are looking for a Caretaker for a residential development in Derby of 3 blocks situated within mature grounds. The Caretaker is to be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly tasks and inspecting, on a daily basis, all external and internal areas of the residential building. The caretaker must report any defects, incidents, security or health and safety concerns to the Estate Manager promptly., It is a condition of the Employment Contract that the Employee resides at the property for the better performance of the Employee's duties. The successful applicant will enjoy lots of variety; duties will include providing caretaking duties, cleaning, window cleaning and gardening services, basic DIY to include painting and any other duties as deemed necessary.

Key duties will include:-

Entering all relevant comments/details into a log as necessary.

Completing all daily, weekly and monthly jobs to include:-

Cleaning, Gardening, Window cleaning and general maintenance of the property in accordance with schedule provided.

Reporting faults to the office promptly so that appropriate attention may be organised.

Providing high levels of customer service at the development and seeking to achieve continuous improvement.

Acting in a courteous and helpful manner to all occupiers in addition to members of the public, other staff, guests, and to contractors employed on the development.

Ensuring the development is a well managed, safe, clean and secure environment in which to live and work.

Experience of working in a similar customer focused environment preferred as excellent communication skills are required; a good understanding of Health and Safety processes would be beneficial

The successful applicant shall also be required to undertake any other duties from time to time as may reasonably be required

A good standard of customer service skills is required

The successful applicant must be able to tackle small DIY tasks to include decorating

The successful applicant must be eligible to live and work in the UK and will be based in the Derby area

The first six months of employment shall be a probationary period, at our discretion, the probationary period may be extended for up to a further three months.

    Salary: £11.44 per hour plus provision of a one bedroomed flat, [subject to a Service Occupancy Agreement which governs rights to reside at the Caretaker's Flat and the National Minimum Wage maximum accommodation allowance], £20 pcm towards your telephone.


  • Hours: Normal hours of work 09:00 to 15:00 on Mondays - Friday with a lunch break of 30 minutes; the successful applicant must be flexible with working hours and emergency attendance may be required.
