Full Job Description

If you're looking to take the next step in your career, as an Assistant Supervisor you'll be responsible for leading and motivating site teams alongside demonstrating your competence and confidence in recording archaeological features and deposits to a high standard.

You'll apply your archaeological knowledge and experience working on evaluations and excavations to make sure that your and others' work is high quality. You will be able to step up to help train, motivate and supervise less experienced colleagues, both by being available to help and by setting a good example of high standards. Enthusiastic and with a keen interest in British Archaeology, especially the late prehistoric period, you'll be confident machine watching and undertaking site surveys and archaeological monitoring and recording works. A key part of the role will be motivating others and you'll be confident creating positive collaborative working relationships with colleagues across the project team.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Excavate and record archaeological features with minimal supervision

  • Developing Supervisory experience, working with teams to deliver tasks and projects on a variety of archaeological sites.

  • Making sure that health, safety and wellbeing methodologies and policies are followed on site.

  • Motivating and leading others and developing skills and experience.

  • Supervising plant

  • Ensuring work is completed to deadline and of a high standard.


  • Essential certification
  • Full clean drivers' licence and willingness to drive company vehicles.
